What Playova is

What is Playova?

Playova is an IPTV player for your own Xtream Codes account or M3U playlist. Available channels, films, series and programme listings depend on your source. Playova is available in Microsoft Store for Windows, Google Play for Android phones and tablets, and Amazon Appstore for Fire TV. Buy Basic or Plus inside the app. Store releases for the remaining platforms are still in development or review.

Does it come with channels or a subscription?

No. You add your own source and must have permission to watch its content. Playova does not sell or provide channels, films, series or IPTV subscriptions. The website uses a demonstration catalogue to show how the app works.

What do I need before I start?

A subscription from a provider, in one of two forms: an Xtream Codes account, which is a server address, a user name and a password; or an M3U link. Your provider gives you one of these. Playova is not a provider and does not sell either.

Can I watch in the browser, on this website?

No. playova.app is the site for the application: what it does, where to download it, your account and your licences. Watching happens in the application on your own device.

Does it support Stalker or Ministra portals?

Playova currently supports Xtream Codes accounts and M3U playlists. Stalker and Ministra portals are not supported.

What features does Playova offer?

Playova stores the catalogue and programme guide locally, remembers watch progress and offers recording or downloads on supported platforms. Available features depend on your device, provider and licence. The platform pages describe these differences.

Getting started

How do I add my subscription?

Open Sources and add an Xtream Codes account using the server address, username and password from your provider, or paste an M3U playlist URL. The app imports the catalogue for local browsing. Refreshing it and loading missing images or details still require internet access.

What is the difference between an Xtream account and an M3U link?

Xtream Codes provides structured access to channels, films, series, categories and programme data when your provider supplies them. M3U is a playlist format; available items and guide data depend on the list. Your provider determines which content is available.

Can I keep more than one subscription?

Yes, when your licence includes multiple sources. You can save sources and switch between them; history, favourites and watchlists remain separate by source and profile. Source limits depend on the platform and licence.

Do I have to type my provider password with a remote control?
Fire TV
No. On Fire TV, open Quick setup, then open playova.app/tv/ on your phone or computer and enter the code the TV shows.
Android TV
No. On Android TV, open Quick setup, then open playova.app/tv/ on your phone or computer and enter the code the TV shows.
LG TV
No. On an LG TV, Quick setup sends your source from your phone or computer with a code.
Samsung TV
No. On a Samsung TV, Quick setup sends your source from your phone or computer with a code.
Where does my provider password end up?

Source details are stored on your device and used to connect to your provider. On desktop and mobile, the password and media addresses containing credentials are encrypted in the local database; the Xtream server address and username remain readable. This does not protect against someone who can run programs as you on the device. Quick setup uses a separately encrypted transfer to the TV. See the privacy page for details.

Does browsing need the internet?

You can browse catalogue and guide data already saved on your device. New images, title details and updates may need internet access. Streaming requires a working provider connection; completed downloads can be watched offline while the licence permits it.

Live television and the guide

Is there a programme guide?

Yes, when your source provides programme data. The guide shows current and upcoming programmes. You can filter channels without guide data from the list.

Can I bring my own XMLTV guide?

No separate XMLTV address can be entered in the app. Playova uses guide data from your source. For Xtream, it checks the provider’s guide; for an M3U URL with username and password parameters, it can try that provider’s XMLTV address. A plain M3U link may have no discoverable guide. Availability depends on the source.

Can I watch something that was on yesterday?

Yes, if your provider offers catch-up for that channel and programme. Open an available past programme from the guide. How far back you can watch and whether a programme plays depend on the provider’s archive.

Can I pause and rewind live television?
Windows
Yes. Playova on Windows keeps an optional live buffer of the broadcast while you watch, so you can pause and rewind within it. It is off by default; turn it on and set its disk space in Settings.
Mac
Yes. Playova on Mac keeps an optional live buffer while you watch, so you can pause and rewind within it. It is off by default.
Linux
Yes. Playova on Linux keeps an optional live buffer while you watch, so you can pause and rewind within it. It is off by default.

Yes. Playova on Windows records the channel you are watching and schedules programmes from the guide or by time. Keep Playova open and the PC awake, online and with free disk space when a recording is due.
Mac
Yes. Playova on Mac records the channel you are watching and schedules programmes. Keep Playova open and the Mac awake; closing a MacBook lid usually puts it to sleep and stops the recording.
Linux
Yes. Playova on Linux records the channel you are watching and schedules programmes. Keep Playova open and the computer awake, online and with free disk space.
Fire TV
Yes. Playova on Fire TV records the current channel or a programme scheduled from the guide. Keep the device powered and online, and do not force-stop the app.

Android
No. Playova on Android phones has no recording screen; download films and episodes instead.
My provider allows one stream at a time. What happens?
Windows
Playova on Windows asks first when a recording would take the line you are watching on; browsing saved data does not use a stream.
Fire TV
Playova on Fire TV uses one connection for what you watch; browsing saved data does not use another stream.
Android TV
Playova on Android TV uses one connection for what you watch; browsing saved data does not use another stream.
Samsung TV
Playova for Samsung TV asks first when a USB recording would take the line you are watching on.
Android
Playova on Android pauses downloads while you watch and resumes them when playback ends.
Can I keep favourite channels and hide the rest?

Yes. Star a channel and the list can show only the starred ones. Hide a channel and it is gone from every screen until you bring it back. Both are kept per profile and per source, and a hidden category stays hidden everywhere.

What about subtitles carried inside the broadcast?

Teletext subtitles can be converted to text on playback paths that support them. Availability depends on the broadcast, selected player and device.

What happens when my line gets slow?

On desktop, Playova can offer a lower-quality version when your source provides one. Accept the suggestion to switch. This cannot fix every interruption; your network, provider and device still affect playback.

What affects channel switching speed?

Playova can reuse saved channel information and prepare parts of channel switching in advance. Opening speed still depends on the stream format, provider response, network and device.

Films, series and downloads

How does the film and series catalogue look?

Films and series arrive with their artwork and year, sorted the way you ask, with your provider’s own categories down the side. Search finds films, series and channels as you type, in every language the interface speaks.

Does it remember where I stopped?

Yes. Playova saves progress for films and episodes and shows unfinished titles so you can continue later. The exact resume point depends on the stream and player; frame-perfect seeking is not guaranteed. Each episode keeps its own progress.

Can I choose the audio and the subtitles?

You can choose from the audio and subtitle tracks your source provides. Playova uses your language preferences where matching tracks are available and remembers manual choices for a title. Player controls such as subtitle size and speed depend on the device and playback mode.

Can I download a film to watch offline?
Windows
Yes. Playova on Windows downloads compatible films and episodes, and you watch them offline from Recordings. HLS-only sources cannot be downloaded.

Android
Yes. Playova on Android downloads films and episodes; downloads continue when you switch apps, can wait for Wi-Fi, and pause while you watch on a one-stream subscription.
Will downloads fill my disk?

Set the download storage limit in settings. The queue can pause when the limit is reached or storage is insufficient. Check available space and the download status; deleting a completed download or raising the limit may let the queue continue.

How do I see what is new?

A recently added row shows what arrived in the last thirty days, across every subscription you have added.

Can I read about a film without leaving?

On desktop, you can open available TMDB and IMDb links in the app’s reading view. These are external websites and need an internet connection. Available details depend on your source and the linked page.

Does it recommend films to me?

The desktop app has a recommendation shelf when the recommendation service and the relevant licence feature are available. It uses your catalogue. It is not an AI chat assistant, and it is not available on every platform.

Which devices does it run on?

Playova runs today on Windows, Mac in early access, Linux, Fire TV with Fire OS, Android TV and Google TV in early access, and Android phones and tablets; apps for LG webOS, Samsung Tizen, iPhone, iPad, Apple TV and Roku are being prepared. Does one purchase cover all my devices?

Plus covers up to five supported devices with one verified Playova account. Basic covers one assigned device. Eligible phone purchases can be assigned to an LG or Samsung TV, after which they no longer cover the phone. Neither plan increases your provider’s simultaneous-stream allowance.

Does my place in a film move between devices?

The phone and television applications ask the same in their next version.

The household

Can everyone at home have their own?

Each profile gets its own language, history, list and scores. A second profile is part of the paid household feature.

Can I lock adult categories?

You can use a PIN and child-profile restrictions to limit access. Filtering depends on category and age information supplied with the content, so it cannot guarantee that every unsuitable title is identified. Deleting a child profile requires the active adult profile’s PIN.

Can I use the desktop app from the sofa?
Windows
Yes. Playova on Windows has a TV mode with larger controls and keyboard or remote navigation for the sofa.
Mac
Yes. Playova on Mac has a TV mode with larger controls and keyboard navigation.

Which languages does the interface speak?

Trial, licences and payment

When does the 14-day trial start?

The trial: 14 days with every supported paid feature, starting when you add your first source, including the demonstration provider. Installing the app or creating an account does not start it. The end date is shown when it begins, and the days left are on screen while it runs.

What is open during the trial?

Everything that is sold: every supported paid feature, playback included, for fourteen days, on desktop, phone, television and Android TV.

What happens when the trial ends?

The trial: 14 days with every supported paid feature, starting when you add your first source, including the demonstration provider. Installing the app or creating an account does not start it. After the trial, playback needs an active Basic or Plus licence. Playova is available in Microsoft Store for Windows, Google Play for Android phones and tablets, and Amazon Appstore for Fire TV. Buy Basic or Plus inside the app. Store releases for the remaining platforms are still in development or review.

Can I buy a licence today?
Windows
Buy Basic or Plus inside Playova on Windows, installed from Microsoft Store.
Mac
During early access, buy Plus in Playova on Windows, Android or Fire TV, then sign in with the same Playova account on your Mac.
Linux
Buy Plus in Playova on Windows, Android or Fire TV; it covers Playova on Linux with the same Playova account. Device limits apply.
Fire TV
Buy Basic or Plus inside Playova on Fire TV through the Amazon Appstore.
Android
Buy Basic or Plus inside Playova on Android through Google Play.
What is the difference between Basic and Plus?

Basic is a 12-month licence for one assigned device without automatic renewal or cross-device sync. Plus covers up to five supported devices on one verified Playova account, syncs watch progress and ratings, and renews annually. TV purchase options vary by platform. Playova is available in Microsoft Store for Windows, Google Play for Android phones and tablets, and Amazon Appstore for Fire TV. Buy Basic or Plus inside the app. Store releases for the remaining platforms are still in development or review.

Which plan do I need?
LG TV
For an LG TV, the planned route is the phone app, including Basic assigned to the TV. Sales are not open yet.
Samsung TV
For a Samsung TV, purchases go through Samsung Checkout where it is available. Sales are not open yet.
Can I move a licence to another device?
LG TV
An eligible Basic bought on a phone can be assigned to an LG TV; the phone then loses it. Later TV transfers wait 30 days.
Samsung TV
An eligible Basic bought on a phone can be assigned to a Samsung TV; the phone then loses it. Later TV transfers wait 30 days.
Android
On Android, Basic moves to another device by restoring the purchase with the same Google account. Plus covers up to five devices.
Does it need to check in with a server to play?

Not each time. Offline use lasts up to seven days from the last successful check, and never past the real end of the licence.

Do I need a Playova account?

A Playova account is not required to download the app or try local features. Basic used on the purchasing device relies on that store account. Plus and the phone-to-TV purchase flow require a Playova account. Your Playova account is separate from your IPTV provider account.

What if the licence does not do what it said?

If it does not give the features described when you bought it, and we cannot fix it, your money comes back. Write to [email protected] within fourteen days of the purchase, from the address you bought with, with the order reference. Store purchases are refunded through the store that took the payment.

Privacy

What leaves my device?

The app connects to your IPTV provider to retrieve and play your content, using the source details you entered. Playova services receive information needed for licences and accounts; optional installation reporting and eligible cross-device sync send the data described on the privacy page. You can turn off installation reporting and sync separately. Those settings do not disable provider connections or licence checks.

What does installation reporting send?

Installation reporting is on by default and can be disabled in settings. It sends a random installation ID, platform, app version, language, available OS version, first-use time and acknowledged notices. The server adds the country indicated by the request. Desktop and mobile report at startup and every 24 hours while open; TV reports at most once every 24 hours. No hardware-derived identifier is used for this count.

How do I take my data back, or delete it?

On the account and data page, after confirming who you are, you can download your account data and delete the account. Deleting removes your sign-in, devices, watch history, scores and sessions. Payment records and the customer identifier that ties them to you are kept on purpose, because a payment has to be accounted for. Deleting the account ends a web subscription at the close of its paid period, but it does not cancel a subscription taken through a store.

What name do you see for my device?

A plain description — Mac, Windows PC, iPhone, LG TV — or the model name where the system gives one. It is sent only when you connect the device to your account, and you can rename it.

When something goes wrong

Why does playback stop or buffer?

There can be several causes: a provider connection limit, an unavailable stream, a network problem or a format the device cannot play. A poster or guide request is not necessarily another video stream. Check the error shown, try another channel and confirm your provider’s connection limit.

A channel will not open. What now?

Check your internet connection and source details, then try another channel. A channel may be unavailable or incompatible with your device, or your provider may have reached its connection limit. The error message can help narrow this down. If several apps fail too, contact your provider.

A channel has no guide at all.

The source may not provide guide data for that channel, the data may be outdated or the channel may not match the guide. Refresh the source and guide, and check the provider’s data. You can filter channels without guide data; a separate XMLTV address cannot be added.

macOS blocks Playova. What should I do?

macOS can block an app because of its signature, notarisation, quarantine status or a damaged download. A warning does not identify the cause by itself. Download the current installer from the official download page and contact support with the exact message if it still will not open.

A scheduled recording says it was missed.
Windows
Playova on Windows could not run the recording at the required time: the PC may have been asleep or off, or Playova was closed. Leave it open and the PC awake and online, with enough disk space and a free provider connection.
Mac
Playova on Mac could not run the recording at the required time: the Mac may have been asleep, the lid closed, or Playova was not running. Keep it open and the Mac awake and online.
Linux
Playova on Linux could not run the recording at the required time: the computer may have been asleep or off, or Playova was not running.
None of this answers my question.
