Set up an IPTV player on Fire TV
Playova for Fire TV comes from the Amazon Appstore and plays the source you already have: an M3U playlist or an Xtream Codes login. These steps take you from installation to your first channel.
In short
Playova for Fire TV plays the subscription you already have. You install it on a Fire TV device running Fire OS, add the details your provider sent you, and Playova imports the channels, films, series and programme guide into the device so you can browse them with the remote.
Check which Fire TV you have
Fire TV devices run either Fire OS or Vega OS, and Playova has a separate version for each. Open Settings, then My Fire TV, then About, and look at the software version. This guide covers the Fire OS version from the Amazon Appstore, which includes the Fire TV Stick 4K models that use Fire OS.
Install Playova
Search for Playova in the Amazon Appstore on the television, or open the Fire TV page on this site and follow the Amazon Appstore link. Install the app and open it from Your Apps.
Add your source
Choose to add a source. For an Xtream Codes login, enter the server address, the user name and the password from your provider. For an M3U playlist, enter its address. Typing a long address with the remote is slow, so you can use Quick setup instead: the television shows a code, you open playova.app/tv/ on your phone or computer, enter the code and send the details. They are encrypted on the sending device and only the television can read them.
- The programme guide comes from your source when your provider includes one.
Let the first import finish
The first import copies the channel list, the film and series catalogue and the guide into the device. A large list takes a little longer. When it finishes you can browse without waiting for the provider each time; playing a channel still needs a working connection to your source.
Trial and plans
The 14-day trial starts when you add your first source, and every supported paid feature is open during it. After the trial, watching needs Basic or Plus, bought inside the app through the Amazon Appstore. Basic covers one device; Plus covers up to five supported devices on one Playova account.
Questions and answers
Does Playova include channels?
No. Playova plays your own authorised M3U playlist or Xtream Codes source. Channels, guide data and catch-up depend on your provider.
Can I enter my details from my phone?
Yes. Use Quick setup: the television shows a code, and you send the details from playova.app/tv/ on your phone or computer.
Is there a version for Vega OS?
Yes, a separate one. Check which system your Fire TV runs before you install.
