Format testing

Explore the formats in Playova’s test library and understand what this coverage means for playback.

Formats in the test library

The main library contains 255 test cases: 58 live and 197 on-demand. These are inventory counts, not passed tests or a guarantee that every format plays on every device.

How we test

We examine picture, sound, subtitle display, seeking and playback startup separately. Additional sets cover track selection (5 cases), format inspection (5) and malformed or difficult inputs (72); they are separate sets, not extra unique main-library cases.

Compatibility depends on your device, operating system, app version and stream. This page describes our test coverage, not a device-specific compatibility result.

Playback questions

Why is there a picture but no sound?

Picture and sound use separate formats. Try another audio track. If it stays silent, contact support with your device, app version and the audio format, without sharing your provider password.

Why are subtitles missing?

Text and image subtitles need different playback paths. Check that a subtitle track is selected. Your device, app version and subtitle format help support investigate a missing subtitle.

Is a slow start the same as buffering?

A slow start happens before playback begins. Buffering interrupts playback after it starts. Provider response, connection speed and format handling can affect them differently.
