Looking for TiviMate on your computer? A desktop alternative
Many people search for TiviMate for Windows or TiviMate for Mac. TiviMate is built for Android TV devices, so on a computer people often try an Android emulator instead. Playova is an IPTV player made for the computer itself, with the same kind of live guide, catch-up and recording.
In short
TiviMate is an IPTV player for Android TV, Google TV and Fire TV devices. Its developer does not publish a Windows, macOS or Linux version. Playova runs natively on Windows, Linux and, in early access, on Mac, and it plays the same kind of sources: your own M3U playlist or Xtream Codes login.
Why not run TiviMate in an emulator?
An Android emulator runs a whole phone or TV system inside your computer. It can work, but it uses more memory and processor time, the remote-style navigation does not suit a mouse and keyboard, and the app cannot use desktop features such as resizable windows, picture in picture or your computer's own video decoder.
A native player starts faster, follows your system's language and accessibility settings, and keeps recordings and downloads in a normal folder on your disk.
What Playova does on the computer
Add your own M3U playlist or Xtream Codes login. Playova imports the channels, films and series into a local library on your computer, so browsing and searching stay fast even with a very large list.
- Programme guide (EPG) from your provider.
- Catch-up and live rewind, when your provider keeps an archive.
- Record what is on now, or schedule a recording from the guide.
- Download supported films and episodes to watch offline.
- Several sources side by side, favourites, profiles with a PIN.
- Choose audio and subtitle tracks, including picture in picture.
Where Playova is available today
Windows 10 and 11 through Microsoft Store, Linux as an AppImage or Debian package, and Mac in early access. On the television, Playova is available for Fire TV on the Amazon Appstore and for Android TV and Google TV as an early-access download; LG and Samsung versions are being prepared. On phones, it is available for Android on Google Play.
The first time you add a source, a 14-day trial starts. After the trial, watching needs a paid Basic or Plus licence; local prices are shown in the app.
What neither app does
Neither Playova nor TiviMate sells channels or subscriptions. Both play the source you bring. If a channel does not work in one player because of the provider, it usually will not work in the other either.
