Playova guides
Download films and episodes on Android to watch offline
Playova can save films and episodes from your own source to your Android phone or tablet, so you can watch on a plane or anywhere without a connection. A few settings decide when and how much it downloads.
In short
A download in Playova copies a film or an episode from your IPTV source to the device. Once it has finished, you can watch it from Recordings without an internet connection. Live channels cannot be downloaded, and your provider must supply the title in a downloadable format.
Start a download
Open a film, or an episode of a series, and choose Download. The download list shows what is running, what is queued and how far each item has come. Downloads continue when you switch to another app; force-closing Playova can interrupt them, and they resume later from where they stopped.
Wi-Fi or mobile data
Download over mobile data is a setting. When it is off, downloads wait for Wi-Fi, whether Playova is open or not, and the list says that they are waiting for Wi-Fi.
One connection at a time
Many subscriptions allow a single stream. In that case a download pauses while you watch and resumes when playback ends, so it never takes the connection away from what you are watching. You can also choose how many items download at once; one at a time disturbs playback least.
Storage limit
Set a download storage limit in Settings. New downloads do not start when the limit is reached. Delete a finished download from Recordings or raise the limit to make room.
- Wait until a download says it is complete before you travel.
- Keep enough free space on the device for the largest title you plan to save.
- Downloads belong to the profile that made them.
Questions and answers
Can I download live TV?
No. Only films and episodes can be downloaded. To keep a live broadcast, use recording on desktop or Fire TV.
Why does a download say my provider refused it?
Your provider did not supply that title in a downloadable format. Try again later, or watch it streamed.
Where do I watch what I downloaded?
Finished downloads are in Recordings, and they play without an internet connection.
