Playova guides
Install an IPTV player on your Mac
Playova for Mac is an early access download while our App Store submission is in review. These steps take you from choosing the right file to your first channel.
In short
Playova for Mac plays the subscription you already have. You install it on your Mac, add the M3U playlist or Xtream Codes login your provider sent you, and Playova imports the channels, films, series and programme guide so you can browse them in a desktop library.
Choose Apple silicon or Intel
Open the Apple menu and choose About This Mac. A Chip entry, such as M1 or M3, means Apple silicon; a Processor entry naming Intel means the Intel download. The two are separate packages, so pick the one that matches.
Install and open it the first time
Open the DMG and drag Playova into Applications, then open it from there. The current direct download is not signed with an Apple Developer ID or notarised by Apple, so macOS may block the first launch.
If macOS says it cannot verify the developer and you trust this download, open System Settings, then Privacy & Security, choose Open Anyway if it is offered, and confirm. If macOS says the app is damaged or contains malware, stop and contact support instead; do not work around that warning with a Terminal command.
Add your source
Open Sources and add an Xtream Codes login with the server address, user name and password, or paste an M3U playlist address. Let the first import finish; afterwards you browse from the saved catalogue and only playback needs the provider.
Trial and plans
The 14-day trial starts when you add your first source. During early access, buy Plus in Playova on Windows, Android or Fire TV while signed in to your Playova account, then use the same account on your Mac. Device limits apply.
Questions and answers
Is Playova in the Mac App Store?
Our App Store submission is in review. Use the direct early access download for now.
Which download do I need?
Apple silicon for a Mac with an M-series chip, Intel for a Mac with an Intel processor.
Can I install it with Homebrew?
Yes. The Mac page has the Homebrew command. The cask removes the quarantine flag; that changes a macOS check and does not mean Apple has approved the app.
