Playova guides for Linux
Install the AppImage, the Debian package or the one-line command, and use the same desktop features as on Windows and Mac.
Looking for TiviMate on your computer? A desktop alternative
Many people search for TiviMate for Windows or TiviMate for Mac. TiviMate is built for Android TV devices, so on a computer people often try an Android emulator instead. Playova is an IPTV player made for the computer itself, with the same kind of live guide, catch-up and recording.
Install an IPTV player on Linux
Playova for Linux comes as an AppImage, a Debian package or a one-line install command. These steps take you from choosing the file to your first channel.
Questions about Linux
What do I need before I start?
A subscription from a provider, in one of two forms: an Xtream Codes account, which is a server address, a user name and a password; or an M3U link. Your provider gives you one of these. Playova is not a provider and does not sell either.
Can I record live television?
Yes. Playova on Linux records the channel you are watching and schedules programmes. Keep Playova open and the computer awake, online and with free disk space.
Can I download a film to watch offline?
Yes. Playova on Linux downloads compatible films and episodes to watch offline. HLS-only sources cannot be downloaded.
Can I use the desktop app from the sofa?
Yes. Playova on Linux has a TV mode with larger controls and keyboard navigation.
How do I uninstall Playova?
To remove Playova from Linux, run curl -fsSL https://playova.app/install.sh | bash -s -- --uninstall. Add --delete-data to delete your sources, saved passwords and history with the app.
