Why TiviMate does not work on LG or Samsung TVs

Many people look for TiviMate in the LG Content Store or the Samsung app store and do not find it. The reason is the system the television runs, not the app being removed.

In short

TiviMate is an Android app. LG televisions run webOS and Samsung televisions run Tizen; neither system installs Android apps, so TiviMate cannot be installed on them. To watch your IPTV source on those sets you need a player made for webOS or Tizen, or an Android-based device plugged into the television.

Android apps need an Android device

Android TV, Google TV and Fire TV devices with Fire OS run Android apps, which is why TiviMate is common there. A smart TV with webOS or Tizen has its own app store and its own kind of app; an Android app file does not open on it.

Your options on an LG or Samsung TV

You can plug a streaming stick or box into the television and install an Android-based player on it, or use a player built for webOS or Tizen.

  • A Fire TV stick with Fire OS or an Android TV box in an HDMI port.
  • A player published in the LG Content Store or the Samsung app store.
  • A computer connected to the television.

Where Playova stands

Playova for LG webOS and Samsung Tizen is being prepared for their stores and cannot be installed yet. Today Playova runs on Fire TV through the Amazon Appstore, on Android TV and Google TV as an early access download, and on Windows, Mac, Linux and Android phones.
